Meeting someone for the first time
- Pick a public place. A café, a busy park, a well-lit restaurant. Public first dates are the standard on MeetSpace for a reason.
- Arrive and leave on your own. Use your own transport so you can step away at any time.
- Tell a friend. Share where you're going and when you expect to be back.
- Keep it short. A short first meeting is plenty to know if you'd like a second one.
Protecting your information
- Hold off on sharing your full name, address, workplace, or financial details until trust is built.
- Avoid moving conversations onto other platforms before you've met in person.
- Be careful with photos that contain identifying details like your street, building, or license plate.
Money is a red flag
Never send money, gift cards, crypto, or investment funds to someone you've met on MeetSpace — no matter how convincing the story sounds. This is the single most common scam on every dating platform. If anyone asks, report them and stop replying.
Trust your instincts
If a conversation feels off, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Step back, end the chat, and use the report function. We'd rather you be safe than polite.
Reporting and blocking
Every profile and conversation has a report option. Reports are read by a real person, usually within 24 hours. Blocking someone is instant and silent — they won't be notified.
If something goes wrong
- If you're in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.
- Then let us know at safety@meetspace.app. We take every report seriously.
- If you believe someone is at risk of self-harm, the Canada-wide crisis line is 9-8-8.
A shared responsibility
We do our part — reviewing profiles, taking reports seriously, removing people who break the rules. You do yours — being honest, being kind, and looking out for each other. Safety on MeetSpace is something we build together.
